三重県伊勢市にある松尾観音堂は、伊勢市街地の東側の倉田山の緩やかな丘陵地に鎮座しています。応永10年5月4日に本堂が出火すろと、近くの二ツ池から雌雄の龍が十一面観音を救出し消火したというお寺に残る龍神伝説の雄雌二匹の龍神様が、力を合わせて観音様を護られてた事から、縁結び・子授け・安産にご利益があるとされています。

創建は、和銅4年（712年）行基が伊勢神宮に参拝に行った後に、自ら十一面観音像を刻み本尊にしたと言われています。
また行基は、この松尾山の近くにある池に雌雄の龍が住んでいると知り、この地に創建したとも伝えられています。
松尾観音寺での安産祈願のご祈祷を希望される場合は必ず事前の予約をしましょう。
自分が使いやすい腹帯を持っていく事も可能ですので、腹帯を持っている場合は持参しましょう。
祈願料は5千円で、授与品の交通安全のお札と安産のお守りを一緒ご祈祷するそうです。
2006年に本堂の床板から龍の様な模様が発見され、「幸福になる」と話題になったので、是非ご覧になってご利益を授かると良いでしょう。
また4月中旬ですと、龍神伝説にちなんで紅白のキリシマツツジ300本を龍の形に植えてあり満開だそうで、沢山の参拝者が訪れるそうです。
